Six suspects have been arrested for their alleged role in a shooting outside a Costco in Phoenix that killed a 19-year-old.
Jabes Gurrola was shot to death in the Costco parking lot near 33rd Avenue and Indian School Road on February 8th. A witness told police that they had picked up Gurrola earlier that day in Glendale and driven to the parking lot, where two vehicles surrounded their car.
According to court papers, the witness described suspects exiting their cars and shooting bullets before escaping the parking area. Video cameras captured the license plate numbers of the two fleeing cars, which helped investigators identify potential suspects.
Phoenix police detained numerous individuals on March 4, alleging their involvement in the fatal incident. Police have identified the suspects as William Mares, Nicholas Estrada, Aarion January, Junior Raybourn, and two juveniles.
January was detained last month, and the matter is still under investigation.
Estrada allegedly informed police that he was paid $200 to take people to the Costco parking lot and block in the victim’s vehicle. According to records, Raybourn told police that he was unarmed at the time of the encounter.
