LVMPD corrections officer apprehended on multiple felony charges

A Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department corrections officer was apprehended and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on Wednesday on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.

Gevaughn Murphy, a corrections officer with the LVMPD since 2023, has been charged with four charges of criminal coercion with the threat or use of physical force, one case of felony child abuse or neglect, and four counts of misdemeanor domestic battery.

Murphy is assigned to the Detention Services Division of the North Tower Bureau. According to the LVMPD, he will be suspended without pay from his police duties pending further investigation.
