A body was discovered in a drainage ditch near the intersection of Swartz Crossing and State Road 135, the Johnson County coroner announced in an email to the media late Friday night.
The email said a person walking along the ditch saw the body and notified authorities, but no time of sighting was provided. The crossroads is located between West Stones Crossing Road and Clary Boulevard North Drive, in an area with numerous companies.
Coroner Mike Pruitt said his agency will seek to identify the person positively and conduct an autopsy on Monday.
The coroner stated that the Greenwood Police Department is involved in the inquiry. The police department has not released any information regarding the inquiry.
