An inmate at Allegheny County Jail died on Saturday.
Jail officials say an internal review will be conducted after the inmate’s death, as is usual procedure. County police have begun their investigation.
A medical emergency was proclaimed at approximately 2:42 p.m.
The inmate, a 38-year-old man, was given emergency treatment until medics arrived, according to officials. He was pronounced deceased around 3:13 p.m.
The inmate’s family has been notified.
The Allegheny County Office of the Medical Examiner will provide the inmate’s identification, as well as the cause and manner of death.
