Pennsylvania High School Employee Taken Into Custody After Stealing Nearly $10K From Athletic Events

A Cedar Cliff High School employee is accused of stealing nearly $10,000 from the school through ticket sales at athletic events, police said.

Lower Allen Township police said they were alerted to an internal inquiry involving Karen Lauer-Pines, 68. The inquiry centered on the alleged theft and misappropriation of cash ticket proceeds from Cedar Cliff High School athletic events.

According to police, investigations found that the alleged theft took place over several years. Officials looked into about 274 home sporting events connected to the case between 2018 and the start of the investigation in September 2025.

Authorities allege that Lauer-Pines manipulated ticket sales at those events, allowing her to take an estimated $10,000.

Authorities have charged Lauer-Pines with theft by unlawful taking. The investigation began when school authorities expressed worry about missing ticket revenue.
