Skyler Hopson, the 7-year-old Pearland girl who had been missing since an Amber Alert was issued, was found dead in a retention pond on Wednesday afternoon, according to authorities.

An Amber Alert was issued Wednesday for Skyler. Police said there was no evidence she was abducted, but the alert was issued since she is nonverbal and autistic.
Police suspect she walked away from her home with her iPad.
She was last seen on Sunset Springs Drive, on the extreme west side of the Shadow Creek Ranch subdivision, at approximately 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
They investigated the area and encouraged neighbors to check their cameras for any footage that could help them find her.
K9s, search teams, and a Houston police helicopter assisted in the search for the girl.
According to Pearland police, K9s tracked the girl’s scent to a nearby retention pond, where a Houston dive team found her body around 2:45 p.m.
