Cincinnati police taken into custody 39 people and towed 65 vehicles on Sunday after tracking down a significant number of drivers who were attempting to stage a street takeover across the city.
Police said officers in District Four initially noticed a large group of drivers heading south on Interstate 75 toward Cincinnati for the planned event.

Officers intercepted the gang at Paddock Road and I-75, where they saw disorderly driving. Authorities apprehended one suspect at the scene and discovered a handgun. Several drivers then departed the scene.
According to authorities, the gang later traveled to District Two and attempted to stage a street takeover in the 4300 block of Kellogg Avenue. Officers intervened to prevent the gathering.
Police said they spotted the vehicles again in the Clifton neighborhood and pursued them until they collected in the Woodward High School parking lot on Reading Road.
Officers secured the area, and the Civil Disturbance Response Team aided District Four officers in detaining suspects.
Overall, police detained 39 people and impounded 65 automobiles. Authorities did not immediately provide any information regarding prospective charges.
