A postal worker is facing charges after officers discovered her passed out while operating a mail truck in Braceville Township.
According to a police report, neighbors on Anderson Anthony Road NW contacted 911 about 2:20 p.m. Saturday after seeing a mail truck parked at the end of their driveway with the driver asleep inside.
Residents were to wake the driver, but she drove away before deputies arrived.
Deputies later found the mail truck a short distance away, after it had gone off the road and into a yard. Officers stated the driver appeared drunk, with glassy eyes and slurred speech.
When deputies asked if she had been drinking, the woman reportedly said yes. She first refused to leave the vehicle and became aggressive with cops, according to the report.
When she got out of the truck, deputies stated she was wobbly on her feet and needed to be lowered to the ground.
The driver was Michele Kellar, 46. She was arraigned Monday on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OVI) and is due back in court on April 2.
