A 43-year-old suburban woman faces five felony charges for allegedly shooting a woman she knew on Chicago’s West Side.
Alexis Dumas, of Schaumburg, was arrested on Friday at 10:34 p.m. in the 5300 block of West Chicago Avenue in the Austin neighborhood.
Police said the arrest occurred roughly two hours after a shooting in the 800 block of North Latrobe Avenue.
According to police, a 39-year-old woman was parking her car at 9:27 p.m. when a woman she knew, later identified as Dumas, arrived and began firing before fleeing the scene.
The victim sustained many graze wounds and was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in excellent condition.
Dumas has been charged for:
- Attempted first-degree murder
- Aggravated battery to a peace officer
- Aggravated battery with a deadly weapon
- Aggravated discharge of a firearm into an occupied vehicle
- Aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in a vehicle without a FOID card
It is unclear what caused the shooting or what the two women’s relationship is.
According to Chicago Police Department records, Dumas has previously been arrested.
She was arrested in 2019 on a charge of aggravated violence involving a first responder, and in 2018 on allegations of driving with a revoked license and no valid registration.
