According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, three people were arrested and charged with drug offenses following a traffic stop in Asheboro on March 18, 2026.
Deputies conducted a stop at Ross Harris Road and discovered that passengers John Christopher Turner, 37, Sherry Ann Durham, 54, and Pamela Nicole Kelly, 45, all had outstanding arrest warrants. According to authorities, Kelly first gave deputies a false name.
All three people were detained and transferred to the Randolph County Detention Center. During their search, deputies discovered illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia. During the jail booking process, Durham was revealed to be in possession of more drugs.
A magistrate determined probable cause for multiple accusations. Kelly was charged with both felony identity theft and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. She obtained a $10,000 secured bond, as well as a $50,000 secured bond on outstanding failure-to-appear charges.
Durham is charged with felony heroin possession, felony possession of a controlled substance on jail grounds, and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia. She received a $5,000 secured bond as well as a $2,000 secured bond for a previous arrest order.
Turner was charged with felony fentanyl, felony methamphetamine, misdemeanor simple possession of a Schedule III controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was denied bond on the new accusations due to his pretrial release, but he obtained a $2,000 secured bond for failure to appear.
The three defendants are due to appear in Randolph County District Court on March 20, 2026.
