Jersey City gang member receives two consecutive life sentences for murder and drugs

Interim US Attorney Alina Habba stated that a Marion Gardens street gang member has received two consecutive life terms for murder and drug trafficking.

Myron Williams, also known as “Money” and “Tunchi,” 31, of Newark, was sentenced to life in prison for racketeering conspiracy, life in prison for murder in aid of racketeering, 240 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, and 120 months in prison for discharging a firearm during a crime of violence, according to Habba.

Williams’ co-defendant, Khalil Kelley, alias “Billski,” 26, of Jersey City, was earlier sentenced on June 5th to life in prison plus a consecutive ten-year term for racketeering conspiracy for his role in the Marion Gardens street gang and a gang-related murder.

Also yesterday, Jawaad Davis, 23, of Jersey City, was sentenced to 170 months in jail for his role in the Marion Gardens street gang, which includes arranging a murderous heist.

Eight other individuals are awaiting sentencing:

Roger Pickett, sometimes known as “Zy G,” 24, of Jersey City, was convicted at trial with Williams and Kelley.

The remaining defendants—Herbert Thomas, 49, of Jersey City; Andre Alomar, aka “Dre8,” 24, of Newark; Naim Richardson, aka “Ninicks,” 32, of Jersey City; Anthony Rogers, aka “MG,” 25, of Jersey City; Quaseame Wilson, aka “Qua Gz,” 28, of Jersey City; Javon Williams, aka “J45,” 28, of Jersey City; and Keith Anderson, aka “Beef3,” 23, of Jersey City—all pled guilty before trial.

Each defendant will be sentenced by Farbiarz in Newark between June 26th and October 1st.

The local street gang linked with the Marion Gardens Housing Complex includes Myron Williams, Khalil Kelley, Roger Pickett, Jawaad Davis, Anthony Rogers, Quaseame Wilson, Andre Alomar, Keith Anderson, Javon Williams, and Naim Richardson.

Since 2013, they and their gang members have perpetrated a number of violent actions, including three different killings on March 29, 2021, November 20, 2021, and November 1, 2022.

On March 29th, 2021, Kelley and other gang members enticed a rival gang member outside by sending him Instagram messages posing as the victim’s fellow gang member.

When the victim opened the door to his home, Kelley and another gang member brandished firearms and shot him multiple times in the chest, killing him.

Pickett and Myron Williams then apprehended Kelley and other gang members after they abandoned the murder car in Newark.

On November 20th, 2021, Myron Williams, Pickett, and Richardson enticed a rival gang member outside by sending him Instagram messages posing as the second victim’s fellow gang member.

Williams and another gang member shot the victim as he opened the door to his home.

Davis facilitated the third victim’s murder on November 1st, 2022, by orchestrating a narcotics transaction with the victim and his associate.

When the victim and his associate arrived at the Marion Gardens Housing Complex to make the narcotics transaction, they were robbed of their drug supplies.

Throughout the robbery, Pickett and Wilson kept the victim and his associate at gunpoint. Following a struggle, Pickett shot and killed the victim, while his associate fled. Pickett then escaped the Marion Gardens Housing Complex alongside Wilson.

Investigators spent months observing and documenting hundreds of drug transactions in and around the Marion Gardens Housing Complex. The inquiry also found that Herbert Thomas was a main narcotics supplier to the Marion Gardens street gang.

When each defendant was apprehended on March 17, 2023, law enforcement seized heroin, fentanyl, crack cocaine, narcotics packaging supplies, ammunition, bulletproof vests, and a loaded firearm.

This investigation was carried out as part of the Jersey City Violent Crime Initiative (VCI).
