Two people, including a 6-year-old child, were killed in a crash Thursday afternoon in Rocky Mount, police say.
At around 2 p.m., officers responded to a collision on Sunset Avenue near Church View Drive.
Police said the collision included a vehicle driven by Carmen Poland, 24, and a van driven by Darrius Harper, 37.
Authorities revealed that Poland and a 6-year-old child died because of the collision.
A 48-year-old passenger in the car was sent to ECU Health Medical Center for treatment.
Two passengers in the van, aged 39 and 45, were also sent to the hospital with minor injuries.
The crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information should call the Rocky Mount Police Department.
