Gainesville Man Apprehended In Arizona For Stealing More Than $100k In Collectibles From Waldo Flea Market

Michael Allen Kinney, 38, has been to the Alachua County Jail after being apprehended in Arizona on a warrant for stealing more than $100,000 in items from Swamped Collectibles at the Waldo Flea Market in July 2025.

According to an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy, on July 10, a man later identified as Kinney arrived at the Waldo Flea Market (17805 NE U.S. Hwy 301) in a van, broke the front door window of Swamped Collectibles, and stole approximately $100,000 in trading cards, gaming cards, video games, and display cases.

The victim allegedly gave surveillance video and a partial tag number; a tag with a matching number was apparently registered to Kinney, and Kinney matched the description of the individual seen on the surveillance video.

Two days after the burglary, the sworn complaint indicated that authorities last spotted the vehicle in North Carolina.

On February 23, Kinney was apprehended by US Marshals in a motel in Mesa, Arizona, and eventually extradited to Alachua County.

Kinney is charged with grand theft over $100,000, burglary of an uninhabited structure, and criminal property damage. He has one minor conviction (traffic) and active warrants from Alabama, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bond at $315,000, which was the amount specified on his arrest warrant by Judge Denise Ferrero.
