A villager was taken into custody for felony possession of obscene material after a girl reported seeing “weird stuff” on his phone.
Dennis Glick, 78, was detained on Wednesday at his house on 235 Jefferson Lane in Caroline.
According to a Sumter County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, an inquiry was begun “regarding possible inappropriateness” between Glick and a 9-year-old female child. The child informed an investigator that she had seen “weird stuff” on Glick’s phone, such as “teenage girls without clothing.”
A deputy requested to check Glick’s phone and discovered a folder concealed within the gallery folder. Glick provided the passcode. The deputy discovered a recently deleted folder in the gallery that also required a password. Glick once again offered the passcode. When the deputy began browsing through the recently deleted photographs, he came upon an image depicting a youngster performing sexual acts. The arrest report is highly redacted.
The Iowa native was brought into custody and put into the Sumter County Detention Center, where he was being held without bond.
