A New Jersey man faces legal action after allegedly assaulting the Easter Bunny at the South Hills Village Mall.
According to the criminal complaint, on Monday, a woman dressed as the Easter Bunny at the mall was taking photos with children and families when a man approached her and began asking her questions, which she deferred to an assistant.
The man refused, touching the woman costumed as the Easter Bunny’s arm, then the top of her chest, and finally grabbing her breasts.
According to the assistant, before the alleged assault, he inquired, “Is it a boy or a girl?” Along with grabbing the woman dressed as the bunny, the man began to insert his fingers into the nose and mouth of the costume.
After speaking with the victim and a witness, authorities analyzed security footage from the mall and identified the suspect.
He was later discovered sleeping in the top row of an auditorium at the AMC Theater near to the mall.
According to the criminal complaint released to KDKA-TV, while being arrested, he asked officers, “Is it close to Five Below, the merchandise thing, the bunny?” After being read his Miranda rights, he asked the officers, “It’s a doll, right?”
He was told it was a human, not a doll, and said, “By mistake, my hand touched her, if it’s a lady.”
Bera Shivakrishna, 36, was identified as the culprit after police found his driver’s license from New Jersey, and he is now facing indecent assault charges.
