Two Dozen Detained And Millions In Cash Seized In Major Drug Trafficking Bust Across Houston Metro Area

The DEA’s Galveston Office Task Force executed a large-scale arrest operation on June 16, 2025, and apprehended roughly two dozen people on drug trafficking, gun offenses, and money laundering charges. The operation, which took place in and around the Houston area, resulted in major seizures of cash, guns, and illegal substances.

Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne reported the recovery of approximately $3 million in cash, numerous firearms, and a substantial amount of narcotics.

Sheriff Hawthorne praised the DEA’s cooperation efforts with state and local partners, especially Chambers County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) staff. “This investigation is the result of countless hours of meticulous work and reflects our detectives’ commitment to getting dangerous individuals off the streets,” according to Sheriff Hawthorne. “We appreciate their continued dedication and the strong partnerships that make operations like this possible.”

The concerted operation aims to disrupt drug networks and improve public safety by removing dangerous individuals and illegal substances from communities.
