Alleged Chicago gang members charged following feds seize guns, ‘switch’ devices from home

Federal prosecutors say two suspected gang members were arrested last week after agents recovered guns, ammo, and machine gun conversion equipment from a home on Chicago’s Southwest Side.

Julian Torres, 19, and Brandon Osorio, 29, have been charged with possessing a machine gun, according to prosecutors.

On March 23, federal investigators arrested both men after a court-ordered search of their Chicago Lawn home.

During the search, authorities reportedly discovered a short-barrel rifle and ten handguns, including one with an extended magazine.

Prosecutors said officers discovered 20 machine gun conversion devices, sometimes known as “switches,” which enable a handgun to fire numerous bullets with a single trigger pull.

Prosecutors also discovered ammunition and rifle accessories on the property.

During a detention hearing on March 27, Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirsten Moran informed the judge that both Torres and Osorio are members of the 31st and Morgan Satan’s Disciples, a Chicago street gang.

Prosecutors alleged that the house served as a hub for illegal activities, including firearms and drug trafficking.

The judge granted the government’s motion to hold both men in detention pending trial.
