Missing New York Woman Located Safe in Maryland After Multi-State Drive

Montgomery County Police found a missing New York woman on Sunday morning after she drove across various states for over 24 hours, police said.

According to police, 4th District officers discovered Judith Woodard, who has Alzheimer’s/dementia, safe and unhurt at the intersection of Randolph Road and New Hampshire Avenue. She had been the subject of a Silver Alert issued from Suffolk County, New York.

The Southold Town Police Department contacted Montgomery County Police at approximately 8 a.m. on March 29, 2026, regarding the missing woman. Investigators tracked her vehicle into Montgomery County by using a cellphone ping and automatic license plate reader equipment.

Authorities say Woodard had been driving through New York, New Jersey, and Maryland for over a day when cops from different districts were notified and began looking for her. Woodard was found and sent to a local hospital for evaluation before being reunited with her family.
