Non-citizen apprehended on driving offense in Wildwood will be turned over to ICE

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed a hold on a non-citizen who was stopped with a suspended license.

A deputy stopped Jhovany Ricardo Suarez Avendano, 24, at U.S. 301 and West Clarke Street in Wildwood around 10:05 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. His vehicle, a silver 2010 Honda Civic, failed to maintain its lane. The report did not specify Suarez Avendano’s country of origin, but it did mention that the deputy required a translator to interact with him.

A later check of the license plate revealed that Suarez Avendano’s driver’s license had been suspended. His criminal history revealed no past convictions for driving with an invalid license, according to the report.

Suarez Avendano was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended or revoked license and given a traffic warning for failing to maintain a lane. He was booked into the Sumter County Detention Center and will be turned over to ICE.
