A city in Santa Barbara County is feeling lucky after a California Lottery player won $7 million with a Crossword Xtreme scratcher. This isn’t the first time someone from the neighborhood has won big.
According to lottery authorities, the scratcher was purchased at the Liquor Emporium in Lompoc, located at 1200 East Ocean Avenue.
The big win generated a lot of enthusiasm in the neighborhood since it appeared that luck was in the air.
Another Lompoc person won $7 million on a Crossword Xtreme Scratcher in August 2025 after purchasing a ticket at Carbaugh’s Market, which is only a mile from Liquor Emporium.
Liquor Emporium owner Simon Kassis, who has been in business since 1986, told Lottery officials that the store intends to use the retailer bonus to modernize inventory and equipment.
“It was amazing to see someone win and become a millionaire…” Kassis stated, “Imagine scratching a penny and becoming a millionaire.”
There is no word on who bought the winning scratcher.
Two other major California Lottery winners were just announced.
Lori Rico apparently won $2 million on an Instant Prize Crossword scratcher game purchased at Hanshaw Liquor, 3022 E. Chapman Avenue, Orange.
Saly Phachanh won $2 million with an Instant Prize Crossword scratcher ticket purchased at Country Store Food & Liquor, 5187 E Kings Canyon Road in Fresno.
