Authorities are investigating after a decomposed body was discovered Friday evening in a wooded area in Iredell County, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office reported that the body was discovered around 6:30 p.m. on April 10 off Turnersburg Highway in Statesville.
Officials stated that the body was deteriorated, but it is unclear how it was located or how long it had been in the area.
Authorities have not revealed the individual’s identity.
The sheriff’s office is handling the issue as a death investigation.
