Man found with more than 138 pounds of meth in car in Arizona has been sentenced to prison

A man arrested with more than 100 pounds of meth in his car in Arizona in 2025 was sentenced to seven years in prison, the Arizona Attorney General’s Office stated on Thursday.

On December 8, 2025, the Arizona Department of Public Safety stopped Anthony Perez on westbound I-10 after noticing several traffic offenses.

The AG’s office stated that Perez’s vehicle was towed and searched because he had never been awarded a driver’s license.

During the search, authorities discovered roughly 138.8 pounds of meth hidden in duffel bags in the backseat of the vehicle.

On March 4, Perez pleaded guilty to transporting a hazardous substance for sale, which is a Class 2 felony.

In addition to his sentence, he was sentenced to pay almost $5,000 in penalties and fees.Drug traffickers who use Arizona’s roadways to flood our state with hazardous substances should be aware that my office and our law enforcement partners, such as the Arizona Department of Public Safety, are watching, and there will be serious consequences,” said Attorney General Mayes.
