A Central Florida man won $1 million while playing a scratch-off game.
The Florida Lottery just announced that Rafael Arciniegas Rosario of Kissimmee won a $1 million prize in the Gold Rush Legacy scratch-off game.
The Central Florida man elected to receive his prize in a single, lump-sum payment of $640,000.
The Osceola County winner turned $20 into $1 million by purchasing his winning ticket from RaceTrac, which is located at 6803 Conway Road in Orlando.
He claimed his winnings at the Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee.
Gold Rush Legacy, a $20 scratch-off game, debuted in April 2024 and offered four top prizes of $10 million and 20 prizes of $1 million. According to the Florida Lottery, only one top prize and five $1 million awards remain.
The game’s overall odds of winning are 1 in 2.97.
Scratch-off games are a key part of the Lottery’s range of games, accounting for over 74% of ticket sales in fiscal year 2023-2024. Furthermore, since their establishment, scratch-off games have paid out more than $70.8 billion in prizes, created 2,475 millionaires, and raised more than $20.98 billion for the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
The Florida Lottery is responsible for more than $49 billion in education funding and sending over 983,000 students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. The Florida Lottery reinvests 99 percent of its money back into the state’s economy through prize payouts, commissions to over 13,550 Lottery merchants, and educational transfers. Since 1988, Florida Lottery games have given out over $104.8 billion in prizes, making more than 4,475 millionaires.
