A trip to Walmart turned into a $25 million lottery win for a Miami man.
The Florida Lottery announced on Tuesday that Lincoln Diaz won the $25 million top prize in the $25,000,000 GOLD RUSH MULTIPLIER Scratch-Off game.
According to lottery officials, Diaz purchased his winning ticket at Walmart, 14720 S.W. 26th Street, in Miami. With a 1 in 4.09 chance of winning a prize, the 68-year-old man turned $50 into $25 million.
Diaz chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $15.96 million from the lottery headquarters in Tallahassee on January 12, according to the news release.
Overall, the Florida Lottery has raised more than $50 billion for education and assisted in sending over one million students to Florida’s schools of higher learning and technical institutions under the Bright Futures Scholarship Program.
