Police: Teen Girls In Custody After Attacking Cook County Sheriff’s Officers

Two teenage girls are in custody after battering Cook County sheriff’s officers responding to a call of gunfire Wednesday on the South Side, according to Chicago police.

At 4:41 p.m., police responded to gunfire in the 6400 block of S. Evans Avenue.

Officers, when I arrived, I discovered a physical conflict between several persons. According to authorities, the two 15-year-old girls assaulted the cops when they tried to intervene. Both were arrested on the scene.

One cop had face bruising and was transported to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition. The other cop sustained a bruised left hip and refused medical assistance.

It’s unknown what caused the altercation.

Further information has not been given, and the inquiry is ongoing.
