A routine traffic stop in Louisiana resulted in the arrest of a Texas man wanted for a fatal hit-and-run in Pennsylvania.
Around 8:20 a.m. on Tuesday, a West Baton Rouge Parish deputy pulled up a commercial box truck heading westbound on I-10 for traffic offenses. The sheriff’s office identified the driver as Ameer Nassar, 25, of Houston, Texas, who was wanted by Pennsylvania State Police in connection with a Bethel Township hit-and-run crash that killed a 33-year-old man on April 10.
According to the West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, the truck Nassar was driving at the time of the stop was involved in the crash.
Nassar was arrested and charged as a fugitive. According to authorities, he has since been transferred to the custody of Pennsylvania State Police.
