5 People Injured In Shooting Near University Of Iowa, Including 3 Students

Five people were shot and injured at an Iowa City pedestrian mall near the University of Iowa campus overnight, police said Sunday. According to school officials, several university students were injured.

The Iowa City Police Department responded to a report of a large brawl in the 100 Block of East College Street at 1:46 a.m. Sunday, according to a news release. Officers arrived and heard shooting.

According to police, multiple victims have been hospitalized. According to police, one of the victims is in critical condition, while the other four are stable.

According to University of Iowa President Barb Wilson, three students were shot. None of the victims’ identities have been made public.

No arrests have been made, and the inquiry is still underway. Police are searching for information regarding five “persons of interest associated with this shooting.” The institution also forwarded the request for data.

The pedestrian mall was closed for many hours before reopening Sunday afternoon.
