Two people were killed in a head-on crash early Sunday morning along Interstate 26 in the Columbia area, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Around 2:25 a.m., a crash occurred near the 107.5 mile marker on I-26 in the Bush River Road area.
According to authorities, a 2023 Hyundai sedan was traveling east in the interstate’s westbound lanes when it struck head-on with a 2018 Nissan SUV driving west in the same lanes.
Officials reported that both drivers were killed in the incident.
The victims’ identities had not been released as of Sunday morning.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
