The United States has issued a warning to two states prepared for huge waves.
Two states in the United States are ready for 8-foot-plus waves on Sunday, April 19, potentially leading to disastrous beach conditions.
“Inexperienced swimmers should avoid the ocean owing to severe wave conditions. Swim near a lifeguard. If you get caught in a rip current, just relax and float. Do not swim against the current. If possible, swim in the direction of the shoreline. “If you are unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help,” the warning adds.
Two U.S. states are ready for significant surf:
- Texas
- Alaska
Strong surf conditions could be serious in Alaska, with “breaking waves of 4 to 8 feet.” Southwest winds of up to 25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph, are likely.
Meanwhile, Texas issued a special alert.
“The Coastal Flood Advisory covers modest coastal flooding. Large breaking waves of 5 to 7 feet are expected in the surf zone during the high surf advisory. The advisory warns, “High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents.”
