Houston police officers injured in crash And beer cans found thrown from truck

Two Houston police officers were hospitalized following a crash with a suspected drunk driver, according to investigators, who discovered beer cans dumped near the crash site.

It occurred shortly before 12:30 p.m. in northeast Houston, where two officers in a patrol cruiser were traveling southbound on North Wayside Drive.

When a truck left a stop sign on Joy Street and moved out in front of the patrol car, both vehicles collided. The patrol car was forced to the sidewalk after colliding with the truck, which was halted in the southbound lanes.

Officials say both officers and the truck driver were brought to the hospital with minor injuries.

It’s unclear what caused the crash, but police are investigating whether alcohol was a factor because numerous beer cans were thrown from the vehicle and onto the street.

As of this writing, no new information had been given, but an investigation was still underway.
