FBI: 18-year-old accused of plotting mass-casualty synagogue attack in Texas

A North Carolina teen is charged with plotting a mass-casualty attack on a synagogue in Texas.

According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, Angelina Hicks, 18, was arrested Wednesday on accusations of criminal conspiracy to conduct assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to kill and felony conspiracy to commit murder.

She is currently being jailed under a $10 million bond.

The FBI’s Charlotte field office said it launched an investigation after receiving information that Hicks intended to target the Jewish community for a possible act of violence.

Authorities searched Hicks’ Lexington house and discovered evidence that she and co-conspirators were plotting a “mass-casualty event” at Houston’s Congregation Beth Israel, according to officials.

A second, unnamed minor from Harris County, Texas, was also charged in connection with the alleged plot.

Authorities also reported the identification of additional suspected co-conspirators, and the FBI continues its investigation.
