2 people dead after wrong-way vehicle crash on I-65 in Alabama

Two people were killed in a wrong-way crash early Friday morning on Interstate 65 in Pelham, Alabama, according to authorities.

According to officials, the incident occurred between a sedan and a truck moving in opposing directions in the northbound lanes. According to investigators, the truck was driving south in the northbound lanes when it struck head-on with the sedan.

One of the fatalities was named as Jesse Southhard, 20, of Birmingham, Alabama. He was killed in the crash.

The incident also claimed the life of the truck’s driver, 37-year-old April Ballard of Leeds, Alabama.

According to officials, the incident occurred on Interstate 65 between exits 242 and 247.

No other information on what caused the wrong-way crash has been given.
