Police: Walmart Employee Arrested After Shooting Coworker At Store

A Walmart employee in Tennessee is in custody after police say they seriously wounded a coworker on Thursday afternoon.

The Bartlett Police Department said it received reports of gunfire at the grocery on U.S. Highway 64 at 2:30 p.m.

Officers said the shooting was the result of a disagreement between two store employees.

When police arrived, they secured the scene and located the offender, who was arrested without incident.

The victim was sent to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Officials say it is unclear whether the gunfire occurred inside or outside the establishment.

The Bartlett Police Department stated that there is no current threat to the public or the neighboring neighborhood.

“We can confirm that the suspect acted alone,” Capt. Jeremy Springer stated.

Police have not revealed any information about the suspect.

Walmart denounced the shooting in a statement sent to local media.

“Violence is unacceptable, and the associate has been terminated,” the statement says. “We are cooperating with police.”
