A 34-year-old man accused of robbing several Aldi stores in Michigan faces multiple felony counts after being caught in South Dakota, according to authorities.
Kaleb Michael Schaffer has been charged with at least three counts of armed robbery and is being held without release at the Kalamazoo County Jail, according to the Portage Department of Public Safety.
Schaffer is believed to have committed a robbery at the Aldi grocery store on South Westnedge Avenue near East Milham Avenue in Portage on December 10. During the incident, he reportedly requested to meet with the manager, hinted that he was armed, and demanded money. Surveillance footage showed him wearing a mask and a low-slung hat to hide his identity.
Schaffer allegedly returned to the same place on January 18 to commit a similar crime.
