According to court documents, on December 5, 2022, at around 10:15 a.m., Slaughter entered Mr. Bailey’s home at 3224 E Street Southeast in Washington, D.C.

Inside the apartment, Slaughter confronted Mr. Bailey and fatally shot him in the chest with a.40 caliber revolver. Slaughter escaped the residence following the incident and later left the District of Columbia for North Carolina.

At the time of the murder, Slaughter was in a relationship with Mr. Bailey’s wife, who was also charged in the case and has subsequently pled guilty to obstructing justice. Furthermore, when the murder occurred, Slaughter was serving supervised probation for a 2019 armed robbery conviction in Charles County, Maryland.

Slaughter was caught in July 2023 and has been detained ever then.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s (MPD) Homicide Branch investigated the case, which was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Charles R. Jones.
