After a year-long, cross-country search, detectives have apprehended the suspect in a violent 2024 tram incident at St. Pete Pier. US Marshals assisted in apprehending and detaining Brian Leona Boggs, 36, in Maryland.

Boggs, a passenger on the Pier’s tram, was arrested after reportedly assaulting a 70-year-old tram driver in June.

According to investigators, Boggs became furious when the driver tried to move a stroller that was blocking seats. He then allegedly knocked the elderly victim to the ground, causing injuries.

Detectives have been looking for Boggs since the assault. He is now facing charges of violence against a person aged 65 or older.

The authorities have yet to announce the date of Boggs’ extradition back to Florida to confront these accusations.
