Police Arrest Two Men Following A Stabbing Near Lincoln Road In South Beach

Hussam Abdul Ghaffar and Duan Harris were both arrested in Miami-Dade County jail on Wednesday night for theft, a steel thermos hit, and a box cutter stabbing in South Beach, according to records.

According to police records, crime scene investigators discovered a yellow utility box cutter near to a sink inside the 7-Eleven at 350 Lincoln Road, where Ghaffar, 41, worked on Tuesday night.

According to police reports, surveillance video captured Harris, 40, entering into the 7-Eleven at 11:06 p.m., leaving seconds later, and Ghaffar left the business shortly after.

According to police investigations, surveillance footage also shows a confrontation after 11:07 p.m. outside the door to a McDonald’s at 1650 Washington Ave., as well as a fight that resulted in Harris falling.

Police officers discovered Harris bleeding on the ground along Washington Avenue, near Lincoln Road, and attempted to assist him with gauze until fire rescue professionals came, according to records.

Ghaffar claimed he was in pain when Harris hit him in the head with a steel thermos. Harris, who is homeless, admitted to stealing sandwiches and drinks worth $17.45 from the 7-Eleven, according to police reports.

According to police, before fire rescue personnel carried Harris to Jackson Memorial Hospital, a police officer discovered a little bag of crack cocaine in his pocket.

Harris accuses Ghaffar of stabbing him. According to police arrest reports, Harris and Ghaffar were arrested on Tuesday at 11:24 and 11:27 p.m., respectively.

According to Miami-Dade County inmate records, correctional deputies booked Ghaffar at 5:35 a.m. and Harris at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Harris was charged with violence, cocaine possession, and petty theft. His bond totaled $3,650. Ghaffar was charged with aggravated battery using a deadly weapon. His bond totaled $2,500.
