Michael Jaden Ybarra, 22, went swimming in the Deep Fork River and disappeared. Crews recovered his body downstream on Saturday morning.
The Oklahoma City Fire Department is on the site Friday afternoon to find the missing swimmer.
“We have all the things we need if we were able to see a live victim to get to him we could have got to him, just not the case today,” Major Ryan Hill, Oklahoma City Fire, said.
Turbulent waters posed a significant risk to personnel’ search and rescue attempts, prompting them to cancel their mission.
“Unfortunately, if we don’t see the risk way out the other benefits of being able to find the victim, It’s just not worth it to put people in the water because we’re going to end up, that type of water, we’re going to end up losing someone else,” Major Hill, said.
Oklahoma City Fire did not disclose when they would resume their search operations. Family members remained anxious to locate their loved ones long after search efforts were halted.
According to Oklahoma City Police, the search continued Saturday at 8 a.m.
“At approximately 11 a.m. Oklahoma City Police drone located the body just downstream, and Oklahoma City Fire dive team recovered the body,” Sgt. Rob Robertson said.
Ybarra’s relatives told News 4 that “Jaden was charming, a family man, and loved God, his animals, and Morgan Wallen.”
They also mentioned that he was the proud owner of Ybarra’s Landscaping and Irrigation.
His family is obviously requesting privacy at this time; however, they have set up a GoFundMe page to help them during this difficult time.
