A man is in jail after allegedly physically and sexually assaulting his girlfriend multiple times while she was locked in a garden shed for two weeks.
Phoenix police arrived at a home on July 2 after receiving a 911 call from a woman reporting that her boyfriend had assaulted her. The woman reportedly alleged that she was imprisoned in a shed but was able to escape and seek assistance from a neighbor.
When cops arrived, she explained that she had recently been evicted and was living in a shed outside her boyfriend’s father’s house.
The woman stated that her boyfriend, 36-year-old Timothy James Wood, had confined her in the shed for at least two weeks by putting a tow strap around her ankle, chaining the double doors, and stacking stones outside to prevent them from opening.
The lady told authorities that Wood threatened to beat her if she rebuffed his sexual advances and forced her to apply makeup to conceal facial injuries.
According to court filings, the woman said Wood used an electrical cord to strike her and cut her right foot with a wood saw.
The lady reportedly claimed that Wood threatened to kill her while crouching on her neck and buried her in a crawl area beneath the shed for two days.
According to records, she was able to escape through an unlocked back access door in the shed.
According to authorities, the woman had multiple apparent injuries to her face and other portions of her body, including bite marks. The hospital confirmed that she had further injuries, including a broken rib.
According to police, Wood insisted that the claims were bogus, stating, “She just got out of the crazy bin…. She has these episodes, and I’m not sure if I’m supposed to notify her mother, and when I went home, the cops were there.”This all kind of broke out.”
However, officers stated that they discovered evidence supporting the victim’s statements, such as chains and tow straps in the shed, as well as a mattress. The forensic nurse found that her injuries supported her accusations as well.
Wood was arrested and charged with kidnapping, unlawful confinement, sexual assault, criminal threatening, assault, and three counts of severe assault.
