Repeat DWI Offender Sentenced To 43 Years After Sixth Conviction In Montgomery County

Felix Shawn Ramirez, Jr., 43, has been sentenced to 43 years in prison for felony Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), which is his sixth such conviction. A Montgomery County jury imposed the sentence on Monday, July 1, 2025, and affirmed the deadly weapon finding, guaranteeing Ramirez will serve at least half of his term before being eligible for parole.

The conviction occurred on Thursday, June 27, 2025, after a seven-day trial in the 9th District Court, presided over by Judge Philip Grant. Prosecutors Luke VanNorman and Lianne Baldridge presented testimony from seven witnesses, including police officers, bystanders, and medical specialists.

The trial established that on the night of the incident, Ramirez sideswiped another car, lost control of his SUV, and violently flipped it across multiple lanes of traffic, eventually coming to a stop in oncoming traffic. A Montgomery County Pct. 1 Constable Deputy arrived on the scene swiftly and noticed indicators of intoxication, such as erratic conduct and mood changes.

At the hospital, Ramirez refused all sobriety tests and aggressively resisted a court-ordered blood sample, forcing police to restrain him. The blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was 0.204, more than double Texas’ legal limit of 0.08%.

Ramirez’s long criminal background, including many prior DWI arrests and prison sentences, was presented to jurors, illustrating a pattern of reckless choices.

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office has reaffirmed its commitment to holding repeat offenders accountable and protecting the community. “There is no excuse—and no tolerance—for driving while intoxicated in Montgomery County,” the District Attorney’s Office declared.
