Buckeye Lake Resident Sentenced 11 To 15 Years In Prison For Aggravated Vehicular Homicide In Delaware County, Columbus Police Seek Suspect In Kroger Theft

Mary Carol San-Filippo of Buckeye Lake was sentenced to 11-to-15 years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide and two charges of vehicular assault. According to WBNS, San-Filippo was driving under the influence of alcohol on November 2, 2024, when her vehicle crossed the center line on State Route 3 and collided with another.

The Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that the crash resulted in the death of Tyesha Brown, the driver of the impacted vehicle, who was declared dead on the scene. Additionally, two people from another vehicle were critically hurt, and the incident made a lasting impression on the community.

In a second instance, Columbus police are searching for a woman who committed a theft at a Kroger store. According to FOX28 Columbus, authorities shared security photographs of the woman touching a handbag containing around $2,000 in foreign cash, which she then walked away with on June 29. Investigators have noted that the suspect made no attempt to return the handbag or locate its rightful owner.

According to court documents obtained by ABC6, San-Filippo, 66, admitted her involvement in the fatal incident. Tyesha Brown, an Alabama native, tragically lost her life in a preventable incident.

Both examples have highlighted the fatal consequences of driving under the influence, leading to fresh calls for public awareness and stricter law enforcement on DUI charges to prevent further loss and ensure community safety.
