Indianapolis Mother Tried To Sell Access To Infant Daughter For $400, Police Say

An Indianapolis mother is charged with felony sex trafficking after allegedly attempting to sell her infant daughter to a man for sex in exchange for $400.

Morgan D. Stapp, 32, was detained this week at a home in the 2400 block of Union Street, on the city’s near south side. Stapp was officially charged last week in Marion County court with attempted child sexual trafficking, a level 2 felony.

The FBI began investigating Stapp in November after receiving reports of attempted sex trafficking on Snapchat. The user “morgan-stapp,” according to the app, reportedly included three photos of Stapp’s 7-month-old daughter with one message stating, “U can f**k her for $400$.”

Another message said “Half now rest after. I’ll send my address. I do live alone, and her dad is not in the picture.”

Stapp, a mother of seven, initially claimed her account had been hacked and that she no longer had access to it, but she eventually admitted to lying to FBI agents.

“I wanted the FBI to leave,” she told DCS in an interview later that month.

In December, the FBI asked an IMPD officer to aid with the investigation. An IMPD detective was then given a search warrant for Stapp’s Snapchat account, where he discovered selfies and thousands of messages exchanged in the days following her FBI interview. According to investigators, the Snapchat action took place near Stapp’s home address.

Stapp’s arrest warrant was issued after she was officially charged in Marion Superior Court 27 on July 1.

Stapp’s bond is set at $200,000. Her initial hearing is scheduled for Friday at 9 a.m.
