Federal investigators say more than 150 pounds of fentanyl were recently confiscated in the Midlands.
The Drug Enforcement Administration, in collaboration with state and local agencies, confiscated over 156 pounds of fentanyl and 44 pounds of methamphetamine during an operation in Lexington County, the Department of Justice announced on Tuesday.
A firearm was discovered, and one individual was apprehended, though they were not immediately recognized. WIS has requested additional information from the DOJ, including when and where this occurred.
The Lexington County case was highlighted as one of several operations in 2025 that the DOJ claims have resulted in the seizure of almost 44 fentanyl pills, 4,500 pounds of fentanyl powder, and 65,000 pounds of methamphetamine across the country, among other drug busts.
This is a developing story.
