Holman will be under house arrest for the first six months of his sentence. He has also been instructed to perform 150 hours of community service.

Between December 2022 and June 2023, Holman took mail from blue collection boxes at various post offices at least eight times, according to court documents and statements.

The stolen post offices are at 95 Fountain Street in New Haven, 589 Campbell Avenue in West Haven, and 844 Jones Hill Road in West Haven.

Prosecutors say Holman was arrested on June 12, 2023, after returning to the Fountain Street post office in West Haven, where he attempted to steal mail from the collection box.

Prosecutors claim Holman was in possession of two keys for mail collection boxes when apprehended.

When investigators searched Holman’s home that day, they discovered 3,000 pieces of stolen mail, USPS collection bins, a credit card reader, and an embosser.

Thousands of checks and money orders, separated and sorted by bank, totaling more than $1.5 million in face value, were among the stolen mail.

Holman pleaded guilty to mail theft on Nov. 20, 2024.

The United States Postal Inspection Service and the New Haven and West Haven police departments completed the investigation.
