A woman’s body was discovered in the White River in southern Indiana on Thursday morning, prompting conservation officers to conduct an investigation.
Around 9:30 a.m. on July 17, officers responded to a complaint of two swimmers being swept down the White River in Daviess County.
DNR first responders arrived at the scene and recovered one of the victims, a juvenile, off a sandbar. The juvenile was transferred to a local hospital for examination.
Moments thereafter, a second victim’s body was discovered. The victim was later identified as Kathrynn Bottoms, 21, of Washington, Indiana.
The Indiana DNR encourages everyone to always wear a life jacket while on or near the water.
Daviess County is about 115 miles southwest of downtown Indianapolis.
