A woman was detained after allegedly pointing a loaded firearm at another woman after a heated argument in a Coconut Creek apartment complex parking lot.
According to Coconut Creek Police Department records, Jaquia Ekua Ansah, 30, of Miami, was arrested on July 14 in an apartment complex near the 4100 block of West Atlantic Boulevard after a victim informed authorities that Ansah threatened to shoot her over a parking disagreement.
According to the complaint, the victim claimed she was turning into the complex when a vehicle reportedly driven by Ansah honked at her. After parking, the victim claimed that Ansah followed her, exited her vehicle, and began shouting, challenging her to a fight.
When the victim urged Ansah to “please go home,” she allegedly tossed a cup of red liquid at the victim’s car before grabbing a weapon from her car and pointing it straight at the victim, stating, “I’m going to shoot your ass.”
A witness confirmed the sequence of events, stating that she saw Ansah yell and then aim a handgun at the victim from her window. Officers then discovered a 9mm pistol loaded with one round in the chamber and six in the magazine in Ansah’s purse.
Coconut Creek officers found Ansah, who approached them freely and stated that she needed to speak with them.
Ansah was arrested and taken to the Broward County Main Jail. She was eventually released after posting a $1,500 bond.
