A homicide investigation is underway in Mayfield Heights after a 19-year-old was discovered dead in the hallway of an apartment building.
According to police, around 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22, officers were dispatched to the Gates Mills Place apartments on Mayfield Road after witnesses reported hearing an altercation followed by shooting soon before the deceased was discovered.

Police said three men are currently in jail; however, their identities have not been released until the formal filing of charges.
“This does not appear to be a random incident,” said Chief Anthony Mele. “The investigation is ongoing.”
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner identified the victim as J’veon Jones, 19, of Euclid. The medical examiner reported that he was discovered dead in a hallway on the fourth level of the building.
BCI is aiding in the inquiry.
