Toledo Police have detained a man in connection with the death of an infant.
Alexander Butler, 23, of Toledo, faces a child endangerment charge in connection with the death of 11-month-old Winsley Raymundo. He was booked into the Lucas County Corrections Center on Tuesday.
He appeared in court on Wednesday, and the judge set his bond at $100,000. He is due back in court on Thursday.
According to police affidavits, authorities responded to Butler’s residence on July 17 after receiving a report of an injured child. They discovered the baby unresponsive and sent her to a nearby hospital, where she died of a blunt force injury to her skull, according to authorities.
The affidavit, citing medical records and witness accounts, asserts that the injury was not accidental.
According to the charging paperwork, Butler was alone with the child when she was wounded. He allegedly informed detectives that the damage was accidental, but police say the severity of the injury does not correspond to what Butler claimed happened.

Butler is the baby mother’s lover.
He faces a separate criminal trespassing allegation for an incident in the hospital the next day, on July 18. According to police affidavits, he was repeatedly instructed not to return yet remained on campus.
