Illegal Immigrant With Gang Ties Detained For Woman’s Murder In Irving

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)—Dallas arrested Juan Carlos Hernandez-Umaña, a 36-year-old illegal immigrant and citizen of El Salvador, for murdering his wife.

At 5:55 p.m. on July 17, 2025, Irving Police officers responded to a complaint of a deceased person at Trinity View Park, which is located along Irving Boulevard near the Elm Fork Trinity River. Upon arrival, cops discovered the corpse of a deceased female in a brush-covered location near the park’s entrance. Detectives tentatively identified the victim, who had previously been reported missing in Dallas. Irving investigators collaborated with the Dallas Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations to identify the culprit as Juan Carlos Hernandez-Umaña.

Hernandez-Umaña, a suspected member of the deadly 18th Street gang in El Salvador, was previously deported from the US on May 25, 2014.

He was booked into Irving Jail at 1:41 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, and charged with murder. He was booked and sent to the Dallas County Jail, where he is still being held. His bond was set at $200,000, but he is presently being held under an immigration detainer owing to his unlawful status.

The deceased’s identity is not being published at this time.
