Three police officers were attacked Friday night in Coney Island, according to law enforcement. They were responding to a report of an attack on Surf and Stillwell avenues.
They attempted to arrest someone shortly before midnight. However, two officers were struck in the face and chest. Someone threw something at him, and he was sliced on the skull.
The cops were taken to the hospital, where they were in stable condition as of Saturday morning. Two of the suspected offenders were arrested, and charges were set to be filed on Saturday.
According to the NYU Furman Center, the severe crime rate of Coney Island, which includes both property and violent crimes, will be 10.2 per 1,000 residents in 2024. This was lower than the citywide average of 13.6 major crimes per 1,000 inhabitants.
